I've spent years exploring Florida’s beaches, from the Gulf Coast’s calm shores to the Atlantic’s energetic waves. But after all these trips, I think I’ve finally found my favorite Florida beach—St. Augustine Beach. It has everything I could ask for and more. Here's why it’s earned the top spot on my list:

Wide, Open Beaches

St. Augustine Beach feels endless. The beaches are wide, giving you plenty of room to spread out without feeling cramped, even during the busier times. There’s nothing quite like walking along this massive stretch of sand, especially with fewer crowds compared to other Florida spots. You get space to breathe and enjoy the beauty around you.

Perfect for Boogie Boarding or Surfing

The waves here are ideal for a little adventure. Whether you're into boogie boarding or more serious surfing St. Augustine Beach provides waves that are fun for everyone. On a good day, the surf is just right, especially for families wanting a bit of excitement in the water.

Sand for the Best Sandcastles

If you have kids (or you're a kid at heart), you'll love the sand here. It’s perfect for sandcastle building—sturdy enough to create towers, moats, and all the beach architecture you can imagine.

Sunrises Over the Atlantic

If you're an early riser, the sunrises at St. Augustine Beach are simply breathtaking. There’s something magical about watching the sun creep up over the ocean, bathing the sand in soft, golden light. Trust me, it’s worth waking up for.

Beautiful Sand Dunes

The sand dunes here add to the natural beauty of the beach, giving it a more wild and untouched feel. They’re tall, sculpted by the wind, and create the perfect backdrop for a quiet morning walk or some beach photography.

Local Gems: Ice Cream, Donuts, and More

One of the things I love most about St. Augustine Beach is its proximity to all kinds of local shops. Whether you’re craving a cold ice cream cone or a fresh donut, you won’t have to go far to find a treat. The local charm of the area really shines through, adding a small-town feel to your beach day.

Close to History: Less Than 15 Minutes from the Historic District

If you ever want a break from the sand, St. Augustine’s historic district is just a short drive away—less than 15 minutes! You can explore landmarks like the Castillo de San Marcos, the Colonial Quarter, and my personal favorite, St. George Street, a pedestrian-friendly area filled with shops, restaurants, and the energy of a city rich in history.

A Beach That Has It All

St. Augustine Beach offers the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and local flavor. It’s not just the waves or the sand, but the whole experience—the space, the natural beauty, the access to great local spots, and the chance to easily explore the history of St. Augustine. If you're looking for a beach that has it all without the crowds, this is it.
